FloVision Primal: Tail Length

Meat processors are losing yield on tail length trimming - approximately $3.60 per head. With variability in both spec and untrimmed tail length, accurate cuts can be difficult to perform in real time and improper cuts can have a significant impact on the final value of a primal.

FloVision Solutions uses in-line sensors to measure the untrimmed tail length, giving butchers real-time feedback on primal trimming accuracy to maximize yield and value, and giving managers a live video feed of each of their lines. The sensors also measure the visual lean of the tails to determine if the butcher should trim off the fatty tails, based on customer spec.

FloVision Analytics, the accompanying dashboard and analytics tool, provides full reporting on untrimmed tail lengths, trimmed tail lengths, and tail visual lean to visualize trends and provide insights to maximize butcher processes.
