Grass-fed beef has been gaining popularity in recent years (roughly 4% of U.S. beef retail and food service sales in 2022, and 70% of Australian beef processing) due to its perceived health benefits and environmental sustainability.
Advocates argue that grass-fed beef is leaner and contains more omega-3 fatty acids, while also being more humane for the animals. Grass-fed beef is not only healthier for the animals, but also for the environment; grass-fed cattle can graze on unusable farmland.
